De zoon van een gazzen

pleased to hear that a man ofyour standing is desirous to put himself at the disposal of our National Cause.

I ought to teil you however, that the Authorities here make a distinction between those who are required for actual service in Palestine in con-nection with the immediate tasks of our Organisation, and those who are desirous of helping in the reconstruction work of Palestine after the War. I am afraid it is somewhat difficult for me to convince the Authorities of the necessity of your going to Palestine immediately unless you are dis-posed to put yourself unreservedly at the disposal of our Palestine office, to do whatever work is now required in Palestine according to your ability. I shall be glad therefore to hear from you whether I may inform the Authorities in this sense.

With best wishes,

Y ours faithfully Ch. Weizmann

I am so very glad to hear that Sir Charles’ effort may have had some effect in helping you to get out to Palestine, and I wish you well in the work you mean to take up there.

Please forgive my carelessness in not finishing the postscript to my last letter. I was waiting till I could ask Sir Charles if the London University Library (to which Lady Welby’s books were sent was still housed at The Imperial Institute in London.

It appears that they are still there.

Believe me Yours sincerely Maria Welby
