145 JEHUDAH HALEVI

Tongues be giving forth speech, extolling,
crowning;

Souls be glorifying, now to praise, and now to
teach.1

Micah 6,6. But wherewith shall I bow down and be worthy

to come before the Lord?2
Ps. 42,5. Shall I lead the procession to the house of God
with calves for mine offering?
Will He say: I will deliver them from the
grave; I will be a father to My children?

All the lands, behold, are alien ;3 so that one

cannot bring an offering that is pure;
O build the chiefest city ;4 be Thou pleased as
with oblation from her courts.

isa. 19,6. Emptied is wisdom and drited up from the
hearts of Kalkol and Darda:*
All that they have known6 and thought
is not as He thinketh and knoweth.
His works are too strong, too many, for the
searching out of wisdom and reason.

His untold marvels, day by day, multiplying
and bearing fruit—
Ps. 71,15. These give unceasingly songs to Him, knowing
not their numbers.7
